6 Mindanao entities receive special citations from BSP
DAVAO CITY — Six institutions and government offices across Mindanao have been recognized by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for their contributions to initiatives supporting financial services, digital transactions, cash operations, and public information.
The special citations were awarded to EastWest Bank in Cagayan de Oro City, LandBank in Cotabato City, the LandBank Cash Operations Unit in Davao City, the Regional Development Council of the Caraga Region, the Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO), and the Provincial Government of South Cotabato. The awards were presented during a ceremony in Davao City on September 28.
The BSP cited the institutions for their cooperation in strengthening the delivery of financial and monetary services in their respective areas. Their contributions include supporting efficient cash operations, facilitating digital monetary transactions, and helping make information about government and central bank programs more accessible to the public.

The recognition also highlights the role of regional institutions in supporting the country's broader financial system. In the Bangsamoro region, the BIO was recognized for its role in disseminating information about government programs and services, including initiatives involving the BSP.
Officials from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and South Cotabato welcomed the recognition. South Cotabato Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. said the citation would encourage the provincial government to continue strengthening its cooperation with the central bank.
With financial services increasingly moving toward digital platforms, the BSP's recognition puts the spotlight on the institutions working at the local and regional levels to support access, information, and the efficient movement of money across Mindanao.
